 Celebrating Our 4th Year.

THE YEAR IN RETROSPECT

Autumn fills the air as I write these words.  One Season has ended and another begins

as we prepare to welcome Winter (even in Southern California) and get ready

to celebrate the Winter Holidays with families and friends.

The pungent aromas of Autumn pique my nostrils, bringing with it memories of

cinnamon and spices in the cooling afternoon.  It is time for creamy soups, hot

stews, steaming coffee and breaking bread with loved ones.

Winter Rye has been seeded.  Our garden beds have been thinned, pruned and

mulched for their long hibernation before blooming again in Spring.  Now, just to

plant the Dutch Iris, Anemones and Paper White Narcissus bulbs, so they can

nestle in with the rest of the garden and grow into a rainbow of color.

Like the gardens of our home, I am tied to the Seasons of the Earth and feel so

blessed to be able to work from home, where I can watch the changes taking place

from my studio windows.  Sophie Boy, our new foundling Cat, lounges in the waning

sun.  He has inherited the job of Yard Cat from our dear little Messy Cat, who left

the Earth last February.  I can see the stone Seraphim that guards his resting place

beneath the grape arbor, and am sure Messy would approve of his successor as

    Caretaker of the Yard.

Two grey doves dive in for some leftover seeds from their morning meal, and the

turning leaves have begun to weave their golden blankets along the green back

yard.  These natural events become entwined with one's life and expression.

There are so many paintings yet to complete.

This past Spring, Neal and I created and built a brand new website for

GreenDoorEditions.com.  We gave it a new look and added several new pages,

that we will be continually adding to and updating with new information, photos,

paintings, art events and news.  We heartily invite you to visit often, give us your

suggestions  and comments, and see what's new.

In adding a Newsletter link to the website,   we decided to limit our snail mail

Green Door Newsletter to an annual  Fall/Winter Issue.  If you wish to be

added to the annual snail mail list, please sign up on our Contact Susan Link.

PERMANENT ART COLLECTION

Neal and I were honored that my Limited Edition Giclee of "Swan Watching" was

placed in the Permanent Art Collection in the Bob Hope and Dolores Hope

Conference Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank,

    California.

An Art Show and Luncheon, presented by Circle of Friends, was held in June at

The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in Los Angeles.  The event

raised funds for the Medical Center and presented the work of the artists whose

work is in the permanent collection at Saint Joseph's.  September marked the

Dedication and Reception at the Medical Center.

EXHIBITS & EVENTS

I will be joining with fellow Artist Co-op7 member Paula Hatton in a group show

that will introduce 6 new members to the Co-op.  Artist Co-op7 (with a membership

of 66 working artists, who have all participated in the art programs taught by the Co-

op at the UJ, continuing education programs, in Bel Air, CA) will present the Exhibit

in March, 2004.  The Co-op's Art Panel Director, Jeanne Hahn will curate the

exhibit which runs from March to June, 2004 at the Federal Building in Westwood,

     California.

An Artists' Reception is slated for March 2004.  Please check back with our Exhibits

& Events Link for the exact date and time.  Those living in the area are most welcome

     to attend.

We wish you and your families the Happiest of Holidays,

and thank you for your friendship and support.

Peace & Blessings in the New Year.  May all of your

Dreams Come True.

...Love, Susan & Neal
